Physics is my subject and perhaps it must be yours otherwise, you would not be reading this post but Physics and some of its main topics can be so inter-related and confusing sometimes that you just wanna throw all of your books away.....HANG ON! You know that everything out there and which is believed to be true is logical and you can't deny anything logical unless you are more of a dumb person and like that you can get all things clear with logic. So, we know that there are a lot of these terms and topics that are often used as one another or used at the wrong time and place but don't worry, we will set them clear for you.
So we have chosen 'Distance and Displacement' for this post.Others will be touched in other posts some other time.Distance and Displacement are most often understood wrong and are used as one another in many different places BUT first, we gonna discuss their definitions, then we will come down to understanding the differences and similarities between the two terms.

Definitions

Distance

Distance is simply the length between any two points.Distance is irrespective of direction and can be of any length.

Displacement

Displacement is the straight distance between two points OR the shortest possible distance between two points in a specific direction.Displacement is not Displacement without either distance or the direction.

Similarities

1-Both are physical quantities.
2-Both have magnitude.
3-Both include measuring distance.

Differences

1-Distance only has magnitude while Displacement has both magnitude and direction.
2-Distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.
3-Displacement is defined as the shortest possible path between two points and distance can be as long irrespective of any direction or short path restrictions.
4-Displacement can have negative value while distance can't be negative but only positive.

Summary

In short, both these terms are quite similar but at the end, they are not the same. There is some basic different between the two that I have just explained above and I think that I have done justice to it to make you better understand and get your mind clear with them.
Thanks for reading and Have a great day.
